Fudomine Fudoumine (kanji)   Fudomine showed its talents and prowess when they beat Kakinoki Junior in the district tournament.   Kakinoki was the second seeded school in tennis and Fudomine was unknown then.  However, they beat Kakinoki in straight sets. Fudomine had to withdraw from the tournament last year because of a 'violent incident'.  All their regulars are new members, except for the Captain who was a regular last year. Fudomine loses to Seigaku in the district finals, with 3 games to 1.  In the prefectures,  they made it to the semi-finals by defeating Hyotei 3-0.  They took advantage of the fact that Hyotei underestimated them and took both doubles.  Tachibana played in singles 3 for the final win. Fudomine was forced to withdraw from the semi-final game against Yamabuki because of a taxi accident.  And therefore they took the fourth place in the Prefectural tournament, making it to the Kantou tournament. HISTORY Last year in Fudomine, the current members of the tennis club were freshmen who were not allowed to play, even though they beat the seniors.   Tachibana then just transferred in as a sophomore.  The seniors abused the freshmen and misused their seniority.  These seniors didn't have talent in playing tennis.  Moreover, the instructor sided with the seniors. Tachibana stood up to the seniors and won the loyalty of the freshmen.  They joined together to form a new tennis club.  The seniors tried to wreck the club.  The instructor appeared and sided with the seniors.  Tachibana confronted the teacher and attacked him.  It ended up being a brawl. Tachibana’s group ended up officially forming a new tennis club for Fudomine.  The instructor resigned afterwards.  And that is the reason why last year the team had to withdraw from the district competition. UNIFORM   Black Fudomine in kanji on the back white and purple stripes      CHARACTERS Tachibana Kippei (currently 3rd year)   Tachibana is a good leader.  Team success is attributed to his leadership as the captain of Fudomine’s tennis team.  Later in the episodes, it’s revealed that he was on the national level during the previous year.   Most people don't recognize him, however, because his hair is completely different (used to be long and blonde).  However, he was first revealed in episode 36 when he beat Shishido from Hyotei.  He was reputed to be one of Kyushuu region's two best players and he used to be the high ace of Shishigaku Jr. High. Tachibana has a cute sister, Ann, who goes on a 'date' with Momoshiro and who also displays good tennis skills. Ibu Shinji (long blue hair to the chin, mumbles to himself) Ibu  has a tennis sense that rivals that of Fuji, because he was able to detect Ryoma's left-handedness. He is famous for his  Kick Serve, similar to Ryoma's Twist Serve. When he first played with Ryoma in the district tournament, he used a 'spot' technique to numb Ryoma's arm.  He hit topspin and slice shots to Ryoma repeatedly, causing his muscles to freeze momentarily.  His tennis sense let him detect those moments and score points.  Ryoma gets injured in this match, but manages to overcome the 'spot' technique. Sakurai (brown hair combed back)   Sakurai is the brown haired guy member of the second doubles of Fudomine.  He is partnered with Ishida in the second doubles of the district tournament.  He is known to have a good topspin, as noted by Tezuka when he observed him play at the district tournament.  Ishida (white headscarf, tall)   Ishida is paired with Sakurai in the second doubles.  He is famous for his hadoukyuu - a ball with waves of air or energy surrounding it.  It is his powerful 'flat shot' that uses 120% of his arm strength.  However,  it is dangerous so Tachibana doesn't let him use it often. Ishida used it during their doubles match against Segaku forcing Seigaku to forfeit the first match with Fudomine when the Hadoukyuu injured Taka-san's arm (episode 15). Kamio Akira (short red hair) – Kamio uses music to help warm up and get him in the mood to play tennis.  He likes to use the phrase "I'm in the rhythm." He is known for speed,  the reason why he is called Fudomine's speed demon. He faces Kaidoh in the district match where both of them nearly get into a fight in the beginning. Kamio’s speed nearly beats Kadio’s snake in the beginning but Kaido wins through sheer endurance and determination.  Boomerang snake appears in this fight. Uchimura   Uchimura is called the front killer, since he uses face shots aimed right in between the eyes of his opponent in a match.  He always wears a baseball cap and is short.  Mori   Mori is the doubles pair of Uchimura.  He has ruffled black hair.  They lost to the Golden Pair in episodes 15-16, but was the only team in the tournament that managed to win two games against them.
